The courses were very informative, and the videos were filled with great information however, the length of the videos and courses made it difficult to stay engaged and absorb all of the information.

I struggle greatly with memorizing multiple things however there have been so many resources that helped me make sure I fully understood everything. I love the option to go back and watch previous videos along with retaking exams! I had so much support and resources given to me, it was all so impressive and made things easier even in the hard parts.

Personally, I believe that this website was amazing, and the only reason I did not give it five stars was because they change it too often.

I really enjoyed this online pharmacy course. The video lectures were excellent and covered very important information pertaining to pharmacy. I appreciated the additional optional readings that were recommended — they helped me better understand the material.

I also liked how the instructor reaches out to students with questions and checks in to see how they’re doing. The live lectures were a nice option (though I could never catch them due to my schedule).

One suggestion: I’d love to see more fun games added to help remember the material. I especially enjoyed playing the games for the medication chapter, and think more of those would be really helpful.

Overall, a great course!

A friend referred me to this program and it's been great. Between this and YT study guides,
There's a lot of resources available with each chapter.
I think when I take tests I just second guess myself and mess up but that's part of learning.
I love the fact that there's virtual classes and support is great.

I found the end of chapter review exams to be extremely helpful. The questions are actually based on the content that was covered in the modules and you can go back and retake exams which is a good study tool for preparation to taking the PTCE.

Feel like the content of the courses were helpful, and thorough. Feel like it condenses a lot of information down into what is important to know. As long as you study and keep going over information, I feel like you should be prepared for the tests.

To be honest I live in nyc & this was my first online course I did while working a full time job , I didn't know what to expect & it turned out to be a great course for beginners ( the flexibility < all the practice books and readings etc ) . The material was well thought out and planned but also straight to the point on subjects we needed to understand for ptce . I had some hick up in between but now I believe I have more knowledge then I did before and confident I will pass .

This course was very insightful and helped me to better understand what happens in the world of pharmacy. It has taught me what I need to know to be a pharmacy tech and also information that will help me in any medical field. This course has helped me to better understand the world of medicine and how medications interact, work and what they are used for. The videos and the readings were full of necessary information that was formatted in a way that was easy to understand. I also like the addition of the slideshows as I could watch the video first and just listen then go back through the slideshow to take my notes. The optional readings, assignments and flashcards also helped me to better understand the information I was taking in.

When I started this course, I was optimistic, hopeful, and eager. This was back in the start of April 2025, and I had a promising career opportunity at a nearby hospital. I proceeded through the first few chapters of the module swimmingly, taking notes, paying attention, and looking forward to what is to come. Then, came the Top 200 Drugs.

To be frank, this ruined me. I always have loved learning and expanding my mindset, but this was something else. It was mostly blunt memorization of chemical compound names and product names, which are not prone to being easily digested. This was genuinely the hardest subject matter I have had in my life, and it stonewalled me from wanting to do any more progress for months. It wasn't until mid July, when I was in a more comfortable environment with someone I loved, who was able to support me into overcoming this wall. It took many days, much focus, and a lot of hours, but I was able to finally overcome this huge obstacle, and I never felt better. After this, the rest of the module was very straightforward and digestible, and I was happy to go back to learning and being intrigued in the topics at hand, finally finishing off today, the start of September.

As for the course itself, I was pleased. Dr. Emmel explained things clearly and thoroughly, and appears to have thorough passion and knowledge on subject matters. I appreciate him emphasizing human emotion and care, something I have personal passion for. The slides were clearly presented and full of proper information, and I never struggled on any chapter outside of the Top 200.

I give 4 stars because I don't think anything is perfect, but also due to a sort of personal trauma I had from the start of this course, of no fault of quality or anything. If you can conquer and overcome and steel yourself through the Top 200 Medications, it will be smooth sailing towards the finish line of becoming a certified Pharmacy Technician. Thank you for the course; I hope it'll serve my future well!

This course is very comprehensive and also quite affordable. Dr. Emmel is a truly motivational and a compassionate person who teaches with insight and wisdom in his field. I found his explanations on Math particularly refreshing. Makes it simple, provides all necessary tools and has a penchant for teaching. Well rounded and I feel with the recommended materials prepped fully.

Ananya D.

The course overall is very well organized and detailed. I liked how Dr. Emmel lectures in each modules and gave examples and tips of. what to expect on the PTCE and as a pharmacy technician. The only thing I think would of helped is if the lecture materials would be easy to convert into Powerpoint or some type of note-taking tool that would save a lot of time, but I didn't mind writing out all the notes and then listen to the lecture videos and writing side notes. Overall, I am satisfied with the program.

For my first exposure to the world of pharmacy, I find the material in this course to be extremely helpful, especially the chapters about different medications and patient safety. The video presentations were easy to digest as they prioritize the important aspects of each topics without overwhelming the viewer with too much information. Additionally, the required readings helped students further understand the subject by providing more context about the applications of certain skills like compounding and professionalism. If I have to list one favorite thing from the entire course, it would be the study activities as they greatly helped me with my memorization skills. That being said, however, the course isn't without any flaws. For one, the practice exams were shockingly easy in my opinion, and apparently nowhere near the difficulty of the actual PTCE according to most of the students. I also noticed a bunch of typos in both the practice exams and the Generic-Brand typing activity, the latter of which I already informed the instructor of and were fixed right away. Despite these issues, Dr. Emmel was very nice and pretty much addressed all of my concerns regarding the course. Overall, if you're looking to become a pharmacy technician or wanting to get a taste of the field before pursuing pharmacy school, Pharmacy Tech Scholar℠ is a good start!

Was a well-built course covering everything needed for both the exam and for an actual workplace job. The exams helped so much in showing how things will be worded on the exam and also helping cover why a question is wrong. How the modules are grouped also helped in covering certain topics, especially medication names being done first as they were the most difficult.

I enjoyed the delivery and process of this course. It was helpful to have a professional speak on these topics instead of just having me read the slides as it provides multiple avenues of comprehension and understanding for all types of learning styles. The tests after each chapter were good to do because it helps retain the inforamtion instead of just waiting until the end. Great program!

The curriculum of the course was well written and easy to follow. I liked that it had different learning modules to use for different learner types. I liked that you could go over the lecture numerous times if needed (Math Calculations) and you could stop the lecture video if needed to take your notes. I liked that it was an open book test but there was a timer attached to testing so you needed to know your information as the national certification test will be timed. I utilized the open book where I could go back and check my answer once I answered to question to see if I was correct or not. For me this helps me retain my knowledge base. I liked that the course was constructed like other medical-type courses I have taken with chapter tests and then a unit test. All in all I think if you are an independent learner and have the ability to self-pace yourself through a course of study you will do well with this course of study.

There's great study material and interactive. You can ask questions, go to an only class, etc. Lots of practice tests, and not the same questions over and over so it doesn't get repetitive (this is for the end of module exams)

This course contains A LOT of information which is presented in a thoughtful way which keeps you engaged and helps you to feel prepared for each quiz and ultimately, the PTCE. I will say that it takes a lot of dedicated time spent not only completing the course itself, but also completing the required AND recommended readings. At the end of the course I do feel confident in my ability to step into this field and be a competent, professional member.

I like how the course was structured and it was easy to navigated with the different modules and chapters for each area of information we needed to know for the PTCE. Slides and information were well organized and easy to follow. I think something that would help improve the course was some more interactive activities. I liked the flash cards and I also liked the little worksheets like the cross word puzzle for the medications, I wish there were work sheets like that for the other modules as well.

I did a lot of research before purchasing this course, and I have learned why it is so highly recommended – it's a great course! I like the structure of how it is outlined. I like the lectures that explain what is being presented on the screen. I like the virtual flashcards and that some of the chapters have "games" to help reinforce what I've learned. The course director, Dr. Emmel, is a tremendous resource with frequent virtual classrooms/office hours to ask him questions and he responds quickly to messages. I feel pretty confident about how this course has prepared me for the exam.

The lessons were well paced & the topics were separated in a way that made it easy to learn. I loved having the ability to go at my own pace and go back to older lessons to review and study. The required readings were helpful at reinstating information so it sticks. I do wish there were more activities for each lesson, but the information is all there to create your own activities.

I enjoyed being able to go through the course at my own pace and I appreciated the check in messages after finishing the modules. While I did not experience the new website layout, the course itself was organized very well and with the student in mind. By putting the medication module at the start, I was able to go back and study knowing it would be one of the more difficult modules to master and keep up with. While I was unable to attend the live events, having the recorded virtual classrooms was a big help and made me feel more connected seeing other students ask questions that I didn't think to ask. The premade google flashcards was also a good resource when making my own study materials. Overall, I had a very positive experience and while I am nervous to take my exam, I feel this course has prepared me well.

I was so interested in getting into pharmacy but with my extremely hectic work schedule, I could never commit to going to physical school. I did some research for a couple of nights, I reluctantly decided to just pay the money and get the course, and let me say. Best decision ever! I couldn't thank this course enough.

Great lectures, great notes- though with the fact that the course updated while I was still in the middle of working on it, I'm a bit concerned. I couldn't restart my progress from the beginning because I have a lot of pressure from family to complete the course SOON, even with the offer of more time.

On the more positive side, something about the way this course presents its material just works with me. I write all of the notes into these big documents that I can scan over, and the information is presented clearly. The lecturer, Dr. Emmel, is definitely someone I can trust to be a teacher.

I feel like the lack of activities after the Medications section, however, diminishes its value. While Medications is the hardest section by far and definitely needs some ways to stimulate the mind into studying well, that doesn't mean some ways to make the others more engaging isn't necessary.

And while I had many opportunities to ask for questions… I didn't really know where to start. A lot of this course is like the PTCB itself- study, study, study. It's a lot more memorization than problem-solving.

I'm not sure how helpful my feedback will be since I completed the legacy program after the new version of the course has been rolled out, but regardless, I enjoyed my time with the course and feel pretty well-prepared to take the PTCE. The strongest point of the course for me was the repetition. Seeing and hearing the same material (or similar) from the required reading, the optional reading, and the recorded lectures helped the material stick in my mind. The strategy that worked best for me was doing the readings before listening to the lecture. I'm a slow, thorough note-taker, so getting the majority of the notes from the reading and then adding details from the lecture video was better than having to pause the video often to note down things I would be hearing for the first time. This is not a criticism of the videos! I thought they were well-paced and helped direct my study, I simply write slower than a natural speaking cadence. My background is in chemistry R&D, so I was already familiar with some of the material (primarily the calculations and the waste handling sections), so I was in what I imagine is the majority of students struggling to memorize the medications as the toughest aspect. I am very happy with the self-paced nature of the course, which allowed me to balance studying with the rest of my life. I also appreciated how present, responsive, and active the instructor was. While I didn't really take advantage of the Q&A + live lecture videos, I think those are a great resource and especially liked that the recordings were made available for those unable to attend during the live hours. All in all I feel like this course has given me the tools to succeed on the PTCE and in a future career as a Pharmacy Technician! Thank you!

I have acquired a significant amount of valuable information that I believe will assist me in preparing for the PTCE exam. I appreciate the ability to revisit each individual course and complete the corresponding exam whenever I have the opportunity. I find the explanation of the mathematical calculations particularly helpful, especially regarding the setup of the unknown number in the numerator and the known amount in the denominator on the right side.

This Pharmacy course is great for people looking to take the PTCE and becoming a certified pharmacy technician. I like that everything is done at your own pace so you do not have to worry about any deadlines which can hinder learning. The weekly classes and supplemental readings are also great to reinforce what is taught in the video lectures. The video lectures could use some more visuals/pictures as they seem quite bland, often times just being a lot of words on the screen. Overall this is a good course with all the info you would need and more.

This program was amazing and I learned a great deal of information. I really enjoyed the extra readings and required readings, the flashcards, the slides, and the activities. I would recommend having an option to print the flashcards for easy studying and being able to print the slides for easy studying as well. Also, maybe having a payment plan if the price is alittle steep for some people and maybe purchasing a month by month renewal if you need more time to complete the program, instead of having to purchase another whole six months. Overall, the program was great and I had a great experinece learning new and old information. I would definitely do this program again if I ever needed to and I loved that the instructor kept in contact with me throughout the whole program.

Pharmacy Tech Scholar℠'s curriculum is thorough and challenging. I came to this course from a tough position of trying to upend my old career choice and pursue Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician. I was going through a training program and fairly near completion when the national chain I worked at went out of buiness. Most of my training has been hands on, and little time was allowed to get through coursework. While I had the necessary hours worked to apply for the national exam, I did not feel ready to take it. I chose to start this program to help gain the knowledge I was missing to pass the test. And in my state, this course meets the requirement to apply for the exam, so I did not need to prove I had worked the necessary hours. Working at my own pace has been helpful, and I was able to gain a position at an independent pharmacy at a higher starting wage since they didn't have to pay for coursework. Overall I am happy with the decision to take this course.

This program has condensed a ton of information into doable sections that are easy to understand. I came upon this with no background information for pharmacy and was very overwhelmed with what I was expected to know. After this program and the practice tests, I am more than confident about passing the PTCB exam. The pharmacy calculations became easy to do along with the YouTube videos Dr. Emmel has posted, which was what I was intimidated about. The self-paced format and unlimited access to resources and practice exams allowed me to review any areas I was unsure about. Plus, Dr. Emmel responds really quickly to questions, which made the learning experience even better. Thank you, Dr. Emmel, for guiding me to success

I found this course to be very helpful! I had the most trouble on the medications module, but that is purely memorization. I strongly believe that the videos explained well enough to grasp a basic understanding that can be enhanced through the readings and further studying. For me, more outside work is necessary for me to feel comfortable about the PTCE, but I think I will feel prepared after study prep.
