For pharmacy-provided on-the-job programs, the training hours and exam/CPhT timing are tied to the trainee permit filing date.
Complete qualifying training, pass PTCE or ExCPT, obtain CPhT, and submit the required information with the application for full West Virginia pharmacy technician registration.

Renewal And Continuing Education

Conditional. Registrants renewing through the CPhT framework must submit current national certification. Certain other registrants must complete 20 CPE hours every two years, including one hour of pharmacy law and one hour of patient safety.
Scope And Supervision Note
West Virginia scope rules cover supervision, tasks, ratios, name tags, transfers, and prohibited pharmacist-judgment functions.
No more than six pharmacy technicians and/or pharmacy technician trainees per on-duty pharmacist, excluding pharmacy interns, under the 15 CSR 7 text.
Technicians and trainees may not receive new oral/verbal prescription orders, perform drug regimen review, patient counseling, prescription transfer, or pharmacist-judgment functions.
